Bespoke Tailored Shirts in Singapore

Ron & Rich cuts bespoke shirts for one gentleman at a time on Tras Street, with the collar, cuff and cloth decided at your consultation, and has tailored in Singapore since 1979. This page covers tailored shirts cut to order, separate from our ready-to-wear shirts. For a tailor-made shirt in Singapore, our master tailor advises on every choice.

Shirts

Bespoke shirts and ready-to-wear.

At Ron & Rich, bespoke shirts in Singapore are cut for one client from a pattern drafted for you, with the cloth and details chosen with our master tailor at the consultation and refined at your fitting. Fit, proportion and balance apply to a shirt as they do to a jacket, and we check all three.

Our ready-to-wear shirts are sold separately at the atelier as finished garments, for the days when you need a shirt without a fitting.

Shirts for work, weddings and the weekend.

Every bespoke shirt is cut for the way it will be worn. These are the three we are asked for most.

Weekend

A linen shirt or a relaxed cotton with a softer collar suits a smart-casual wardrobe, worn open at the neck with tailored trousers or shorts.

Collar, cuff and details

Three decisions shape a shirt. Our master tailor advises on each, so the whole shirt works together.

Collar

A spread collar suits most business shirts and frames a standard tie knot. A button-down collar suits relaxed days and open-neck wear. A cutaway collar sits well with a wider knot, and a one-piece collar gives a linen shirt a softer roll.

Cuff

Single cuffs suit everyday wear and fasten with one or two buttons. For a dressier shirt, and for gentlemen asking which shirt tailors in Singapore make French-cuff shirts, we cut double cuffs folded back and fastened with cufflinks.

Details

Buttons, pocket, placket and monogram are chosen with the rest of the shirt, from a concealed placket for a cleaner front to a monogram on the cuff or chest where you would like one.

Shirt cloth for Singapore’s heat

We cut shirts in European cloths and New Zealand linen, both chosen for how they wear in humid weather. New Zealand linen breathes most freely in our climate, so it is the cloth we cut bespoke linen shirts in for the weekend and for warm days at work. Among European cloths, lightweight cottons such as poplin stay cool and crisp at the office, and twill gives a softer hand for the evening.

We choose cloth for how it wears and breathes, not for its price alone, and we will tell you which one suits the way you dress.

How a bespoke shirt should fit

Men’s tailored shirts are judged at four points. The collar should sit easily at your neck, the shoulder seam at the edge of your shoulder, the sleeve at your wrist with the cuff just showing under a jacket, and the body should follow your torso without pulling at the chest or billowing at the waist.

How a bespoke shirt is made

If you are looking for made-to-measure shirts in Singapore, ours are bespoke: a pattern drafted for you rather than an adjusted template. Each shirt is cut and finished through our bespoke process.

Tailored shirt FAQs

How much does a tailor-made shirt cost in Singapore?

A bespoke shirt at Ron & Rich starts from $199, with European cloths from $299 and New Zealand linen from $269. All prices include GST and vary with the cloth you choose.

How long does a bespoke shirt take to make?

A bespoke shirt takes 3 to 4 weeks from consultation to collection, including the fitting. If the shirt is for a wedding, book your consultation well ahead of the date so it can be fitted alongside the suit.

What is the difference between bespoke, made-to-measure and ready-to-wear shirts?

Ready-to-wear shirts come finished in set sizes. Made-to-measure adapts an existing pattern to your measurements. Bespoke begins with a new pattern drafted for you, which is how custom-made shirts in Singapore are cut at Ron & Rich.

Is it worth having a shirt tailored?

A tailored shirt is worth it when ready-to-wear shirts pull at the shoulders, gape at the chest or leave the sleeves too long. A bespoke shirt from Ron & Rich is cut to your measurements, with our master tailor advising on every choice.

Do you make French-cuff shirts?

Yes. We cut French-cuff shirts with double cuffs fastened by cufflinks, and our master tailor can advise on the collar and cloth that suit them best.
